CZECHIA IS HOSTING EUROPEAN HELICOPTERS

After the 2-years break, the Czech Republic, namely 243rd Squadron based in Prague, will host the Galileo SAR meet 2025. This international event will take place from 4th to 8th August 2025 in Prague - Kbely AFB, one of two Search and Rescue bases in the Czech Republic, which provides helicopter rescue operations. The meeting provides close cooperation between European states, helicopter units, flight and ground personnel, and last but not least, European Global Positioning System Galileo.

Galileo SARmeet is an international exercise of SAR crews. Its aim is to learn from each other and share TTPs and experiences across the SAR community to make SAR operations safer, faster, and more efficient.

The two main parts of the event are the SAR contest and symposium.

The SAR contest is an opportunity to demonstrate the skills, assets, and cohesion of every unit. The main pillar is the flying challenge, which tests piloting skills and precision of hoist operations, as well as crew resource management, cooperation, and the ability to improvise while completing various tasks during the navigation competition. Ground technical crew and rescuers, as an integral and indispensable part of the team, will also get the opportunity to compete with colleagues from other units. The best team will be awarded with a prestigious trophy.

The symposium, which will be held in the EU Space Agency HQ in Prague, gives an excellent opportunity to learn, share, and network not only with colleagues from SAR units but also with representatives of RCCs, SAR-related organisations, and industry.
